In July 2010, Isabel Suppe’, and avid and experienced climber, was climbing an ice-face in the Bolivian Andes with her partner Peter Weisenekker. Weisenekker slipped on the icy terrain causing both climbers to plummet 1,100 ft. to the bottom of the face. Though both miraculously survived, Peter would succumb to his injures and the sub-zero temperatures as they lay 16,000 ft. above sea level. With extraordinary effort and determination, Suppe’ was able to crawl her way out with severe injuries to her leg and substantial blood loss; and injury any other person who have died from, even without the severe weather conditions, starvation, dehydration and desperation. Suppe’ spent two days dragging herself across the glacier to send SOS mirror/light signals for her rescue. “Starry Night” recounts her experience and determination and is an inspiration to all.

Less than one month after her rescue, Isabel started climbing again, with her cast. Nine months later, she became the first woman to solo-climb Nevado the Cachi, one of the highest and most solitary peaks in the Andes.

Since then, Isabel has endured 13 complicated and painful surgeries, and faces several more in the following years. To this end, Suppe’ is bicycling across America in hope to raise money for her next procedure, an intricate and costly surgery of $75,000. No doubt, this exceptional young woman will reach her goal.
