(St. George, UT) - Dixie State College's weekly noontime "Dixie Forum: A Window on the World" convocation series presents a special two-day program spotlighting the dangers of domestic violence and sexual assault in the St. George community.

The program begins on Tuesday, Nov. 6th, with a Dixie Forum presentation entitled "Ending the Silence on Domestic and Sexual Violence, by St. George DOVE Center executive director Katy Peterson. The DOVE has provided confidential shelter, advocacy, and support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault as well as prevention education for over 15 years in the St. George community. The Forum will begin at 12 noon, in the Dunford Auditorium of the Browning Resource Center on the DSC campus. Admission is free for all community members, DSC students, and faculty and staff.

Then on Thursday, Nov. 8th, the Dixie State College Take Back the Night student group and the Dixie Forum will host a rally and speak-out event against domestic violence and sexual assault at beginning at 6 p.m., at the outdoor amphitheater located just north of the DSC Gardner Student Center. The rally will include speeches from local advocacy groups, poetry from DSC students Ashley England and Erika Larsen, live music from Christina Osborn, and a candlelight vigil. The speak-out event will take place in the Gardner Center Conference Room B, giving survivors an opportunity to share their stories publicly with a community of supporters and trained advocates.

The weekly Dixie Forum series will continue its "Great Faiths" 2012 Fall Semester series with a special convocation on Monday, Nov. 12th, featuring a presentation on Christianity by Elder Marlin Jenson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This special forum will take place in the Eccles Mainstage Theater beginning at 1 p.m.
