(St. George, UT) – Under wet conditions Thursday night at Hansen Stadium, neither Dixie State College or Hawaii Pacific University men’s teams found the net. A scoreless tie in Pacific West Conference play left both teams wanting a dry set of clothes and the two points left unclaimed despite chances from both sides of the field.

Dixie State left the field with its second draw of the season and in PacWest play (5-6-2, 4-3-2 PWC). The Sea Warriors, who outshot the Red Storm 20-16 for the match, drew for the first time in 2012 (5-5-1, 5-2-1 PWC).

The match was evenly fought, back-and-forth, in regulation with HPU holding a slim one shot advantage heading to overtime.

Dixie State became the aggressors in the first overtime, blasting four shots including one by Timothy Shue that had to be saved by a blocking defender near the goal line.

The proverbial roles were switched in thesecond extra period. HPU outshot the Red Storm 5-0 and had multiple open looks in the match’s final moments. Heimana Chene hit the post with an open net and followed with a rocket saved by Tyler Walters in the 108th minute. A final header from Alejando Porras sailed wide right to dash the hopes of the visiting club.

Walters made nine saves in goal while hiscounterpart Mael Lefebvre made eight stops.

Dixie State closes a six-match homestand with a meeting with Grand Canyon on Oct. 16 at 4:30 p.m. at Hansen.
