(St. George, UT) - Dixie State College of Utah’s Cultural Arts program has announced its 2012-13 Performance Series, which includes over 40 instrumental, choral, theatre and dance programs held in the state-of-the-art Dolores Dore’ Eccles Fine Arts Center on the DSC campus.

For the fifth-straight season, Dixie State is offering a DSC Fine Arts Season Pass (excluding dance performances) for just $99, a 40% savings over regular single-event ticket prices, giving patrons access to all DSC theatre productions, and instrumental and vocal concerts for the 2012-13 season. For tickets and further information, please call 435-652-7800 or visit the central campus ticket office at the DSC Avenna Center. Patrons may also purchase tickets prior to each evening’s performance at the Eccles Fine Arts Center Box Office or online at www.dixiestatetickets.com.

DSC’s theatre department will stage five major productions this season, including three plays this fall, beginning with the Ken Ludwig comedy “Moon Over Buffalo,” running September 27-29 and October 2-6, in the Mainstage Theatre. Dixie’s theatre troupe will also present “Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe,” in association with Playscripts, Inc., in the Black Box Theatre October 18-20 and October 23-27; followed by the production of the musical classic “Guys and Dolls,” in association with Music Theatre International, in the Mainstage Theatre on November 8-10 and November 13-17.

The theatre program will also present Shakespeare’s “Henry V” to open the spring season in the Black Box Theatre January 31, February 1-2 and February 5-9; and will wrap up the year with the Gilbert and Sullivan classic “The Gondoliers” in the Mainstage Theatre February 28, March 1-2 and March 5-9.

DSC will offer a number of vocal and instrumental concerts and recitals this season, featuring Dixie’s talented students and faculty. DSC’s Symphony Band and Symphony Orchestra will each perform four times this season, as will a number of instrumental ensembles, including DSC’s Jazz, Brass, Percussion and Woodwind Ensembles. In addition, the music concert season includes multiple string and piano recital performances.

Patrons will also have the opportunity to enjoy DSC’s talented choral ensemble in four concert events in 2012-13, along with several faculty and student recitals throughout the season, while DSC’s dance department will present a pair of concert events to be held on November 29-30, and April 11-12.

In addition to the concert events, DSC’s Sears Art Museum Gallery will host several art exhibits this upcoming season, highlighted by the 26th-Annual Robert N. and Peggy Sears Dixie Invitational Art Show and Sale. The Sears Dixie Invitational is recognized as one of the biggest art events in the state of Utah and runs from Feb. 16-through-March 31, 2013. The Museum Gallery’s season will also include four more exhibits showcasing the talents of the area and region’s best artists, including a special Homecoming exhibit by the DSC Alumni October 19-through-November 9; and the annual DSC Showcase April 17-through-May 2, 2013, featuring works created by Dixie students, faculty and alumni.
