(Bryce, UT) - Bryce Canyon National Park known for its amazing geologic formations will be holding its third annual Geology Festival on Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28, 2012. The park was established as a national park in 1928 and over a million visitors each year from around the world come to marvel at its beautiful scenery and delicate formations that are found nowhere else.

This year’s festival will offer daily ranger-guided walks and talks in the canyon and along the rim, children’s activities and demonstrations on geology and fossils, guided bus tours through the park and a special live presentation on Friday with geologist Caitlin Scully aboard the research vessel Joides Resolution anchored in the North Atlantic Ocean.

Over 8 different activity booths will be set up in the Visitor Center entrance plaza with activities and information for all age groups. Acting Chief of Interpretation Kathleen Gonder said, “We are especially thrilled to host so many of our park partners this year. We will have booths from the Dixie National Forest, Grand Staircase – Escalante National Monument, Snow Canyon and Kodachrome Basin State Parks, Zion National Park, Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument and the Garfield County Travel Council. Their support along with our featured speakers for the evening programs will make this year’s event one you won’t want to miss.

Events begin at 8:30 AM each day and culminate with the evening program held at the historic Bryce Canyon Lodge auditorium at 9:00 PM each night.
