SR-14 will open early for Memorial Day weekend! The road will not yet be paved so motorists will be traveling on road base (dirt/gravel) during this time.

The road will open at 3:00PM on Thursday, May 24 and will remain open until 7:00AM on Tuesday, May 29. After that time, the road will be closed during the day and opened each night from 7:00PM to 7:00AM, except on Friday when the road will open at 5:00PM and remain open through the weekend until Monday at 7:00AM. This schedule will continue through the month of July.

    Project Status -

Milepost (MP) 7.5-8.2: The major excavation near MP 8 is now complete and the roadway grade has been finalized. In an effort to keep the area safe and prevent future sliding, the project team is addressing additional movement on the west end of the main slide area at MP 7.5. Kiewit Infrastructure began the additional earthwork last week. The Utah Transportation Commission has also visited the site and approved additional funding toward stabilization efforts on the project. This work will not affect the opening of the road on nights and weekends.

Milepost 9.7: Construction crews will be repairing a tunnel that runs under the roadway. The design for this repair is currently being finalized and construction is anticipated to begin in the coming weeks.

Milepost 10: At MP 10, crews will be stabilizing the roadway and building a rock buttress. Excavation and roadway stabilization activities at MP 10 are nearly complete.

Milepost 17: Maintenance crews have addressed a slow moving slide at MP 17 for several years. In order to stabilize the roadway in this location, construction crews will install a 200-foot long soldier pile wall to keep the roadway in place. Design at this location is currently being finalized and construction is anticipated to start in early summer.

Much of the work on the landslide is weather dependent. The construction team continually adjusts production rates and crew size to make up for lost time due to weather delays.
