(Cedar City, UT) - Authorities are warning cabin owners to be on the lookout for a mountain recluse suspected in more than two dozen cabin burglaries across the southern Utah wilderness.

Troy James Knapp is considered armed and dangerous. He's been photographed by motion-triggered cameras on snowshoes with a stolen rifle slung over a shoulder.

On Thursday, the Iron County Sheriff's Office distributed a wanted poster for the 44-year-old Knapp to cabin owners on the Cedar Mountain complex east of Cedar City.

Authorities say Knapp has been using remote cabins for sustenance and warmth during winter. In summer, he retreats with stolen goods to makeshift camps deep in the forest.

A Kane County arrest warrant issued earlier this year charges Knapp with three burglaries and a weapons charge.
