A public open house will be held on Thursday, May 24 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Alzheimer’s Association staff will be on hand to answer questions regarding Alzheimer’s and related dementia services and how they can be accessed in the community.
The Association continues to provide personalized services such as: care consultation, counseling, support groups, MedicAlert+Safe Return enrollments, community referrals to families helping a loved one with Alzheimer's disease and support to patients of referring physicians in Southern Utah. There is no cost for these services.
The Association presently has several support groups in Southern Utah and an activity-based dementia day care program in collaboration with the St. George Senior Center. The respite program is partially funded by United Way Dixie, a long-time supporter of Alzheimer’s Association services, and is a crucial aid to family caregivers.
In addition, there are family counseling teleconferences that are occurring regularly, access to social networking via the Association’s ALZConnected and a 24/7 toll free Helpline 1-800-272-3900 which provides information and guidance in 170 languages and dialects.
“We are excited to offer a full range of personalized Alzheimer’s and dementia services to the Southern Utah community under the capable leadership of Elizabeth Brown,” said Nick Zullo, Alzheimer’s Association Program Director for Southern Utah.
As part of the Association’s commitment to awareness and support, the Walk To End Alzheimer’s will take place Saturday, November 10, 2012, 9 am at Dixie High School. For more information and to register your team, please go to www.alz.org/walk.
