Rally Master Doug Tebbs predicts there will be over 200 attendees at the Rally being hosted by the Lexington Hotel. “I wouldn’t be surprised if there are over 100 motorcycles in town that week”, he said. Some estimates indicate the rally will add $500,000 to the local economy.
Recent Rally sites include Boise Idaho, Tennessee, and Idaho Falls. The TRA, combine the thrill of motorcycle riding and the joy of attending LDS Temples located primarily in the U.S.
In addition to “some of the best riding country in the nation” Tebbs said “we chose Southern Utah because of the well-known hospitality of the community. We plan to participate in local service projects such as volunteering at the St. George Food Bank” he added.
Besides St. George, there are over 30 TRA chapters around the county including Manti, Price and Fillmore. Many TRA members from the Provo, Ogden and Salt Lake chapters have second homes in St. George as well.
Zion’s Harley Davidson in Hurricane is sponsoring a lunch for TRA members attending the rally and will provide fast emergency repairs/service on motorcycles that have problems during the rally. Other local businesses are also providing services during the rally.
National Director Mike Simmons pointed out that “potential TRA members do not have to be members of the Church to join the Temple Riders, but we do ask that they observe the same Christian family based standards we maintain.” He invited interested riders to stop by during the rally and introduce themselves.
The Temple Riders are very careful riders and try to courteously obey the laws of the road and ask that you keep an eye out for them during their rally so that all will return home safe without incident.
Interested motorcycle riders may contact the TRA at www.templeriders.com, or call Gary Williams at 801 374-9211 for membership information or questions.
