After beginning the season at 9-7, the Red Storm (23-10, (13-5 Pacific West Conference)) have gone 15-3 in the last 18 games which included an 11-game win streak and a win over the West Region’s No. 3 team Chico State.
The California Collegiate Athletic Association’s Cal State Dominguez Hills earned the top spot with a strong showing at 38-9, followed by Cal State Monterey Bay at No. 2 with a 32-9 record. Chico State sits at No. 3 with a 27-12 record, and UC San Diego rounds out the top five with a 32-14 mark.
At six is Sonoma State (27-17), seventh is the Great Northwest Athletic Conference’s Montana State Billings (27-9), eighth is Cal State East Bay (26-19), at ninth is fellow PacWest member Grand Canyon at 28-13 and tenth is the GNAC’s Saint Martin’s at 20-11.
Of the ten teams in this week’s poll, six schools are from the CCAA, and two each from the PacWest and GNAC.
This week’s ranking reflects the ballots of the regional advisory committees (RACs) of games played through April 8. The Division II National Softball Committee will make final selections on April 29 with the selection show airing on April 30th on www.ncaa.com at 10AM ET.
Dixie State embarks on an eight-game road swing to the San Francisco Bay Area with games against Notre Dame de Namur and Dominican (CA) starting on Friday afternoon.
