(Salt Lake City, UT) - Utah voters may now request an absentee ballot online, in addition to registering to vote, instead of visiting their county clerk’s office in person. Now from their home or workplace, Utahns can now go to voter.utah.gov to:

    • Change name and/or address on voter registration record

    • Affiliate with a political party or change party affiliation

    • Request an absentee ballot

Utah Lt. Governor Greg Bell said, “Providing an absentee ballot option for Utah citizens is another way we are encouraging all Utah citizens to participate in the voting process. The online registration tool is the easiest way to not only register and update your voting information, but now to also request an absentee ballot. We are pleased to offer this new feature to Utah voters," he said.

The online absentee tool simplifies the process of requesting an absentee ballot, which will help all Utahns participate in elections, particularly those temporarily residing outside the state. When requesting an absentee ballot, Utah voters are able to request a “one-time absentee” ballot or a “permanent by mail” ballot. Military and overseas voters can also choose their desired method of delivery (email, fax, domestic address or international address).

Utah is proud to be among the nation’s leading states in utilizing the latest technology to encourage civic participation. Utah was the third state nationwide to offer online voter registration; last year, more than 10,000 Utah citizens registered to vote online at voter.utah.gov. The absentee ballot tool is yet another exciting resource that will help all Utahns participate in elections.
