(St. George, UT) – KCSG will carry the broadcast of the Summit League Men’s Basketball quarterfinal game between the SUU T-Birds and the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies on Sunday March 4th at 7:30PM.

The Summit League Men’s Basketball tournament will be played in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The tournament championship game will be on Tuesday March 6th. The league has 11 member institutions and is in its 30th season as an NCAA Division I athletics’ conference.

SUU (13-16) is not entering the tourney on a high note. The T-Birds have lost four in a row and six of its last seven games. They have a 7-6 home record and are 4-10 on the road.

Oakland University, located in Michigan, is led by Summit League leading scorer Reggie Hamilton (25.5 points). Hamilton also is second in the league in assists (5.1), and first in steals (2). Corey Petros and Drew Valentine are also key contributors on the Golden Grizzlies as both players average seven rebounds per game, which puts them both in the top three in the league’s rebounding leaders.

SUU is led by Jackson Stevenett (14 pts and 5.7 rebounds), Ramell Taylor (11.8 pts), Damon Heuir (10.2), and Ray Jones Jr. (10).

The T-Birds lost both games to the Golden Grizzlies this season and were eliminated in last year’s Summit League tournament in the quarterfinals round by Oakland 82-66.

Oakland went on to win the Summit League championship over Oral Roberts 90-76, and represented the league well in their first round game of the NCAA Tournament. The Golden Grizzlies earned a 13th seed and faced No. 4 seed Texas. They did come up short in losing to the Longhorns, but only by four points (85-81). In 2010, Oakland won the Summit League championship over IUPUI.

The T-Birds last won a Summit League tournament game in 2009 when they beat IUPUI 53-48 in the quarterfinals round.
