(St. George, UT) - The Dixie State Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Paul Abegg, will present its annual mid-winter concert on Saturday, February 25 at 7:30PM in the Avenna Center Cox Auditorium on the DSC campus.

The Dixie State Symphony Orchestra will be joined on stage by French violinist Frédéric Moreau, who will accompany the orchestra in a performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s “Violin Concerto.” With nearly 100 concerts performed as a soloist each year, Frédéric Moreau captivates audiences with his interpretations, his virtuosity and his charisma. Founder, soloist and director of the "Violons de France," Moreau is also a member of the Solstice Trio and the Goldoni Quartet.

The symphony orchestra will also feature harpist Adriana Horn from the Dixie State Music Faculty in the performance of “Adagietto” by Gustav Mahler. The symphony will also perform the overture from “Russlan and Ludmilla” and “Sibelius Symphony No. 2.”

The orchestra will present its final 2011-12 concert on Saturday, April 21, featuring The Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s organist Andrew Unsworth as a guest performer. In addition, the Orchestra will perform during Dixie State’s 101st-Annual Commencement Ceremonies slated for Friday, May 4, 2012.

General admission tickets for each concert will be available at the door for $5 for adults and $1 for DSC students and faculty and staff with current ID.

For tickets and further information, please call (435) 652-7800 or visit the central campus ticket office at the DSC Avenna Center. Patrons may also purchase tickets prior to each evening’s performance at the Eccles Fine Arts Center Box Office or online at tickets.dixie.edu.
