  • Head-on Collision Kills Craig Thygerson of Apple Valley

    (Apple Valley, UT) - Then Utah Highway Patrol reports that 42-year-old Craig V. Thygerson of Apple Valley, Utah is dead from injuries received in a car-van crash Friday.

    Thygerson was eastbound on State Road 59 about 3:20PM when the vehicle he was driving crossed the center line into oncoming traffic crashing into a FedEx van head-on before going off the road and bursting into flames.

    The UHP Report said Thygerson was extricated from his car and transported to the Dixie Regional Medical Center where he died a short time later.

    The driver of the FedEx van, 37-year old Jacob A. Baker of St. George, was hospitalized in stable condition with lower-body injuries, according to the UHP.

    The highway patrol said both drivers were wearing seat belts and vehicle air bags deployed. The UHP accident report said there is no indication of excessive speed, alcohol, or drug use involved in the accident.

    This is very sad and heartbreaking. I knew Craig from Boy Scouts and the Young Men's program. He always brought enthusiasm and excitement to activities, campouts, and events. He will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his lovely wife, children, parents, and siblings!
