Turbin rushed for a career high 208 yards on 24 rushes and had three touchdowns, including an 80-yard scoring run. Two of his scores came in overtime.
USU’s offense totaled 492 yards with 310 coming from the ground game. Aggie quarterback Adam Kennedy went 13-of-18 for 182 yards with two touchdowns.
The Aggies built a 21-10 lead in the first half, but Idaho (2-9) rallied with 18 third-quarter points and another TD in the fourth, knotting the game at 35 with 9:14 left in regulation. Regulation expired before either team could go ahead and overtime ensued.
Idaho’s Korey Toomer scored his third rushing touchdown in the first overtime and the Vandals went up 42-35. Toomer is a senior linebacker from Las Vegas, but showed some power running ability with his short yardage scoring runs of two yards and two one yarders.
Turbin answered for the Aggies with his second scoring rush and USU tied the score at 42. Then Turbin delivered a two-yard touchdown run and the Aggies went up 49-42.
Aggie senior linebacker Bobby Wagner gathered in a deflection and collected an interception at the goal line to seal the win.
Idaho gained 450 yards of offense (275 passing, 175 rushing) and converted an amazing 11-of-22 third down attempts. The Vandals also made good on 2-of-3 fourth down tries.
USU was 6-of-13 on third downs, 2-of-2 on fourth downs, averaged six yards per rush, but gave up three fumbles and one interception.
Turbin went over 3,000 yards for his career. Junior safety McKade Brady had 16 tackles while Wagner posted 11 stops.
The Aggies return home to the friendly confines of Merlin Olsen Field at Romney Stadium to host Nevada on Saturday, November 26 at Noon.
