At Pine View, the East High Leopards jumped out to a 13-0 lead but the Panthers responded and took a 21-13 halftime lead. Then East put up 22 second half points to the Panthers’ six and the Leopards picked up the 35-27 road win.
The Leopards got most of its offensive production from quarterback Jason Cook who rushed for 171 yards on 25 carries and three touchdowns. He added another 90 yards passing.
Fullback Liti Molisi rushed for 91 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns in complimenting the East offensive attack.
Pine View’s Braxton Peterson went 8-for-22 passing for 66 yards, and three touchdowns. Peterson carried the ball well and rushed for 101 yards on 22 carries.
Panthers’ talented running back Prentiss Miller added 117 yards on 18 rushes.
The Olympus Titans made themselves perfectly comfortable at Snow Canyon and won 27-7 over the Warriors.
The game consisted of much sloppy play by both offenses but the Titans capitalized the best. Snow Canyon turned the ball over five times (four fumbles and one interception thrown) and Olympus threw an interception and fumbled twice too.
Olympus quarterback Scott Porter played well going 17-for-33 passing, 278 yards and threw four touchdown strikes (one interception).
The Warriors’ Brayden Linde passed for 138 yards on 12-of- 26 passing (one touchdown and one interception). Snow Canyon as a team rushed well. Six different Warriors ball carriers gained 141 yards on 35 carriers (4.0 average per carry) but the four fumbles wiped out the effectiveness of the positive rushing game.
Snow Canyon’s rush defense looked ready for the season. The unit limited Olympus runners to only 24 yards on 18 carries (1.3 yards per carry).
Cedar City High travelled to American Fork and did not show well. The Cavemen romped on Cedar 33-0.
The Enterprise Wolves fell to Duchesne 28-21 and the Diamond Ranch Academy went on the road to beat Parowan 20-6.
