  • Carol McGregor Feb 07, 1943 - May 08, 2011

    died 2011-5-8
(St. George, UT) - The Best Mom in the World and Craziest Grandma Ever! Left us unexpectedly on Mother's Day, May 8, 2011 due to complications from rheumatoid arthritis. Known for starting conversations with everyone she encountered, Carol brought joy and laughter into our lives.

Born to Don Clifford and Laura Workman Hardy on February 7, 1943 in Concord, CA, Carol spent her childhood years in "The Grove" where she swam in fishing holes, rode her bicycle, ran around barefoot, and was inseparable from her cousins Kurt, Lois, Kay, and Judy. She later moved to South Jordan, UT with her parents and brothers, Alan and Glen and graduated from Bingham High School in 1961. She married Gary Richards and had four children, Mike (Jenny), Jeff (Lisa), Laurie (Johnny) and Carey (Tim). Being a mother was her greatest joy and accomplishment.

Days in Utah were filled with camping trips with the Hardy, Halliday, Turnbow, Brockbank, VanStaveren, Workman and Thomas families, in addition to little league football games, baseball tournaments in St. George and summer barbeques on her parents front lawn.

She later divorced and moved to St. George. There she met and married Tavish B. McGregor and had their daughter Koni (Casey). She loved being part of the McGregor clan and spending time at the family cabin in Pine Valley and Christmas and birthday parties at Kon and Joan's home. Together, Carol and Tav have 7 children including John (Sarah) and Ben (Zoe), 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Carol loved her pets Gerdie, Chiquita and Peanuts, angels, amethysts, psychics, candy and T.V!

Although her departure has left a hole in our hearts that will never be filled, we find solace in knowing she is free from pain and with her parents. Especially her "Daddy".

The family would like to thank the extensive care and heartfelt treatment received by our mother from the ICU staff at Dixie Regional Medical Ctr during her last weeks of life.

Services will be held at Spilsbury Mortuary 110 S Bluff Street, St. George, UT Friday May 13, 2011 with viewing hours from 6-7:30pm and Memorial program at 8:00pm. A celebration of Carol's life will be held all day Saturday May 14, 2011 at the McGregor cabin in Pine Valley, UT. Spilsbury Mortuary
