(St. George, UT) - Dixie State College’s weekly noontime “Dixie Forum: A Window on the World” forum series will travel into the world of intercollegiate athletics as first-year DSC Athletic Director Jason Boothe will discuss “The State of Dixie State Athletics” on Tuesday, November 9, at 12:00 Noon, in the Dunford Auditorium of the Browning Resource Center on the DSC campus. Admission is free for all community members, DSC students, and faculty and staff.

Boothe was named DSC athletic director last spring and currently oversees the daily operation of the institution’s 12 intercollegiate athletics programs. Prior to his arrival at Dixie State, he worked for 10 years at the United States Naval Academy, where he served as an Assistant and Associate AD for Operations.

While at Navy, Boothe managed all game day operations for Navy football home and neutral site games, including the annual Army-Navy game and yearly matchups with Notre Dame. In addition, he assisted in the fundraising and construction of the $20 million Brigade Sports Complex, a 150,000 square foot facility on the Annapolis campus. In 2006, Boothe received the Naval Academy Athletic Association Distinguished Leadership Award.

Boothe is a 1995 graduate of Northern Arizona University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Athletic Administration from Florida State University in 1996.

The Dixie Forum will continue each Tuesday through the rest of the fall semester. Following a week off, the Forum returns on Nov. 23, with DSC Professor Ace Pilkington and his wife Olga Pilkington discussing “The Secret Language of Fairy Tales and Children’s Rhymes: Addressing Taboos with Folklore.”
