The Governor issued the following statement:
The State of Utah mourns the loss of one of her brave sons. Nicholas Ivie chose a life of service and sacrifice, even at great personal risk. On behalf of all Utahns, Jeannette and I extend our heartfelt appreciation for his dedication. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of Nicholas.
The flags shall be flown at half-staff on all state facilities from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, October 11, 2012, the day of Ivie’s memorial service. The service will be held at the UCCU Events Center at Utah Valley University in Orem. It starts at 11 a.m. and is open to the public.
