Glenna was active in many organizations. She served as the chair women for the cancer society for 20+ years, Glenna and Scott were members of the Red Hill Wranglers, was instrumental in organizing the down winders. She loved singing and was part of the singing mothers, sang in the Parowan Town Choir and served in her Ward Choir. She was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in Primary, Young Women’s, Scouting, Visiting teaching and did Church extraction for over 31 years. Genealogy was the passion that kept her going through life, she was a historian for our family as well as many others in the area. Detail and accuracy were very important to her. Glenna worked as a florist for over 40 years, touching many families in Southern Utah with her floral designs and personal touch. Her claim to fame was dancing with Lawrence Welk in the state cancer society volunteer conference. Glenna was a dedicated care giver of many family and friends and will be sorely missed.
Glenna is survived by her children; Fred Scott (Beniti) Orton of Parowan, UT, Gail (Jeff) Pierce of Great Falls, MT, Jan Zelenka (Partner - Richard Pereira) of Hanford, CA, Jeanee (Kevin) Shakespear of Tropic, UT, Craig Nat "Butch" (Holly) Orton of Enoch, UT, Wendy (Steve) Stoker of Cedar City, UT and Kay Dell (Doug) Whitlock of St. George, UT. Her brothers Owen J Holyoak of Gainesville, FL, Val M. (Vivian) Holyoak of St. George, UT, and sisters, Adelle Evans of Cedar City, UT and Winon (Michael) Hall of Clinton, UT. Along with 28 wonderful grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Scott L. Orton who passed away on April 5, 1985, and 1 great grandson Cody Hall. 3 son-in-laws Tom Zelenka, Wade Mackelprang and Bryan Dee Hall, along with her brother-in-law Floyd Evans.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Parowan 1st & 2nd Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Parowan 1st & 2nd Ward Chapel, and again on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Church from 9:30-10:30 am. Interment will be in the Parowan City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
