  • Dixie State College Crowned Homecoming Queen Tuesday Night

    (St. George, UT) – Dixie State College sophomore Krissia Beatty was crowned 2012 Miss Dixie Homecoming Queen in front of a near capacity crowd this past Tuesday night at DSC Avenna Center Cox Auditorium. The pageant was held as part of the College’s Annual Homecoming Week festivities, which continue through Saturday, Oct. 27.

    Beatty, an business and marketing major from St. George, won a full tuition scholarship and the opportunity to represent Dixie State at the 2013 Miss Utah Pageant next June to compete for a chance to advance to the 2014 Miss America Pageant. Pageant hopefuls were judged in physical fitness/swimwear, evening wear and talent areas of the competition, along with the customary onstage question and personal interview portions of the event.

    Rounding out the 2012 DSC Homecoming Royalty is first attendant Kelby Morrison, a freshman music major from Oakley, Idaho; second attendant McCall Spears, a sophomore early education major from Castle Dale, Utah; third attendant Sara Wulfenstein, a freshman business major from Pahrump, Nev.; and fourth attendant honors went to Carlie Brotherson, a junior accounting major from Mount Pleasant, Utah.

    Four additional awards were presented that evening, including the Director’s Award given to McKell Smith, a sophomore communication major from Layton, Utah; the Community Service Award was presented to Lydia Jeppson, junior accounting major from Price, Utah; Breanna Opdahl, a sophomore communication major from Wahpeton, N.D., garnered Miss Photogenic honors; and Kendall Pitts, a sophomore nursing major from Las Vegas, Nev., was named Miss Dixie Spirit.
