(Cedar City, UT) - A man of many theatrical talents whose gifts have entertained audiences across the US, Europe, Japan and in London’s West End, Brad Carroll is a master craftsman whether he is acting, composing or directing for the stage. Shauna Mendini, Dean of SUU’s College of Performing and Visual Arts, is pleased to announce the appointment of Brad Carroll as Artist-in-Residence for SUU’s Department of Theatre Arts & Dance.

Having served as a guest artist for several SUU productions including the recent production of Little Women: the Broadway Musical, Brad Carroll composed the music for Lend Me a Tenor: The Musical, which premiered at the Utah Shakespeare Festival in 2007 and went on to receive its international premiere in London’s West End in 2011. The production was co-written with Peter Sham, Associate Chair of SUU’s Department of Theatre Arts & Dance. Acclaimed as a director, actor, composer, writer, and musical director, Carroll’s numerous regional credits include productions for Utah Shakespeare Festival, Utah Festival Opera, PCPA Theaterfest, Idaho Shakespeare, and Great Lakes Theatre Festival; as well as various universities including SUU, University of Nevada -- Las Vegas, UC Santa Barbara and many more. His affiliations have also included Walt Disney Entertainment International as well as such prestigious orchestras as the Boston Pops and the San Francisco Symphony. This summer Carroll directed Les Miserables for Utah Shakespeare Festival.

On making this appointment, Dean Mendini commented, “Brad has guided our students either as a director or musical director to great success in the past. He brings a high level of professionalism to everything he does. With this appointment, Brad has the opportunity to nurture students’ abilities not just through a single production but in intensive class work as well.”

Brad Carroll’s appointment commences with the start of SUU’s fall 2012 semester.
