(Minersville, UT) - The Baboon Wildfire which flared-up six-miles south of Minersville burned 20,732-acres and is 100-percent contained. The original fire was lightning caused, the flare-up was caused by a single tree torching from within the previous containment lines and spotting to extremely dry vegetation outside the previous containment lines.
Nick Howell, Baboon Fire Information Officer said fire behavior is minimal, smoldering and creeping is being observed with no evacuations or road closures are in effect. The fire burned on Bureau of Land Management administered lands, State of Utah: Division of Fire, Forestry and State Lands.
There were no injuries reported and no structures destroyed or threatened, Howell said.
