(CEDAR CITY, Utah) - - Southern Utah University football wrapped up its final day of camp on Saturday, going through a standard practice and will now turn its attention to the season opener at Nevada.

The Thunderbirds came out of camp relatively healthy with only a pair of season-ending injuries depleting the depth of the team. Senior wide receiver C.J. Morgan and reserve linebacker Taylor Nelson each suffered leg injuries that will keep them out for the year.

Starting positions on the offensive side of the ball were still up for grabs with the quarterback spot of particular interest to fans and media. Incumbent Aaron Cantu had the best showing of the day, throwing a perfect 6-for-6 for 75 yards and capping his only 11-on-11 drive with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Chris Robinson. Transfer Ammon Olsen was 2-of-5 for 25 yards and ran for 10 more during his 11-on-11 drive with the second unit.

The football team will begin its in-season schedule next week with 90-minute practices scheduled for Tuesday at 5:35 p.m. and Wednesday at 5:20 p.m. The team will have a 60-minute practice on Thursdays, beginning at 5:15 p.m.

SUU will kick-off its 2014 season at Nevada on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 1:00 p.m. (MT) with live stats, live video and audio links available online at www.suutbirds.com. Fans can also listen to the game on KSUB AM 590.
