In a nod to St. George's usual sunny skies and warm July temperatures, and the expectation that limited remaining tented premium seating areas will likely sell out, air show officials want to be sure guests have access to shade and air conditioning if they need it. Ticketed guests will be allowed to go back and forth from the air show spectator area to their vehicle if it is parked in the air show parking lots. In fact, guests will be permitted to watch the air show from the comfort of their vehicle if they are so inclined. Guests will not be permitted to bring their own food and beverage into the air show grounds but there are plenty of concessions available for purchase and there will be free water stations available on site. Air show parking is not permitted on the streets, lots or land surrounding the airport except for officially marked air show parking lots and vehicles parked illegally will be towed and ticketed.
"This will be one of the only air shows in the U.S. where guests can sit back and watch the flying from their car right near the show line," said Kevin Walsh, Executive Director of the Thunder Over Utah Air Show. "It's just like the drive-in movies, only the action is moving at 700 mph!"
In addition to the Blue Angels, the show will feature the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, the TA-4 Skyhawk demonstration, the School Time Jet School Bus, the Red Tail Squadron P-51 Mustang, home-state aerobatic star Brad Wursten, Matt Younkin, a WWII Battle Reenactment featuring dozens of authentic reenactors supported by restored vintage aircraft, tanks, half-tracks and other equipment, and additional performers.
Advance discount tickets are available at www.ThunderOverUtah.com. General admission for kids 15 and under is free. Sunday, July 27th is Family Day at the show and additional discounts are available on Sunday tickets. Premium seating options that can include catered lunch, tented areas, complimentary beverages, private restrooms and a seat on the flight line are sold out for Saturday's show but there are a limited amount remaining for Sunday.
The show will host a Friday Night Preview Party featuring live music and performances by some of the air show performers. The Blue Angels will not be performing at the Friday Night Preview Party. The Preview Party gates open at 5:00 PM and flying will take place 6:30 - 8:30 PM. Parking lots will open at 8:00 AM for Saturday and Sunday's shows, with admission gates opening at 9:00 AM, the WWII Battle Reenactment beginning at 10:30 AM, flying beginning at 12:30 PM and gates closing at 5:00 PM.
