    (ST. GEORGE, Utah) – Two St. George men were arrested today in connection with the early morning stabbing of another man who is expected to survive after making his way to the hospital and being admitted for emergency surgery.

    Taylor Cole Hintz, 344 S. 1990 East 4B, St. George, Utah, and Alexander Riley Gatherum, 500 W. Diagonal St., St George, Utah were both taken into custody this morning and booked into the Purgatory Correctional Facility.

    Hintz faces charges of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony, receiving stolen property, a class B misdemeanor and a misdemeanor arrest warrant. Gatherum faces charges of attempted aggravated assault, a third degree felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor.

    The St. George Police Department Investigations Unit issued a press release stating that the victim received a stab wound to his torso, but that he was expected to pull through. The name of the victim, and the nature of the incident in question was not be released.

    The release reported that a call came into the St. George Communication Center this morning at 6:30 with information about a stabbing near the 600 North block of 500 West. It went on to say that, officers then responded to information that an altercation had taken place in a nearby apartment.

    A representative from the Washington County Attorney’s office has been working closely with the SGPDIU throughout the day culminating in the arrest of both Hintz and Gatherum.

    Officials were unavailable for questions, and no information regarding the nature of the altercation has been released to the public.
