(HURRICANE, Utah) - The Hurricane City Police has started a K 9 Program and are excited to bring a dual purpose K 9 dog to the department. The department has been working on a program for years and looked at the benefits of having a K 9 program as part of the police force and the added investigative tool it will bring. The cost of a K 9 program is expensive but will be funded in part with asset forfeiture money.

The K 9 dog is a Belgium Malinois named Paige. She is three years old, physically fit, well behaved and is well trained in narcotic detection and criminal apprehension.

Paige will be teamed up with her handler, Officer Jayson Despain who has been working with the Hurricane City Police Department for 10 years. The Hurricane City Police Department is confident in Officer Despain and the K 9 Program to detect and apprehend those involved in drug related crimes.

If you would like more information about our K 9 Program, please contact the Hurricane City Police Department (435)635-9663.
