“We are thrilled that one of our most popular parks has been recognized with a Certificate of ‘Excellence’ by TripAdvisor,” said Kent Perkins, Leisure Services Director, City of Saint George. “Pioneer Park is currently undergoing upgrades to enhance visitor’s experience. With our continued focus on improvements and upgrades to the park, such as the addition of the Red Hills Garden and a new restroom facility, we will likely see a large increase in visitation and park usage in the near future. Our parks staff works hard to maintain this facility as a wonderful place to visit.”
Pioneer Park, which sits atop the magnificent red sandstone rocks affectionately known as the ’Sugar Loaf‘, offers magnificent 360 degree views which include a nature preserve, state and national parks, and the city center with its famous pioneer-built Temple and Tabernacle spires rising through the tree lined streets; all accessible from this spot by foot or bicycle on the City’s extensive trail system.
“This unique gift of time and nature, now honored as a preferred national destination by TripAdvisor, is a testament to the emphasis that the Leisure Services Department puts on preserving the natural wonders which grace the Saint George Area,” said Larry Shane, Pioneer Park Manager. “We invite all who visit St. George to explore this undisturbed natural park.”
With its multitude of exotic rock formations, Pioneer Park is a favorite location for science fiction and western based films. Environmentalist will discover a wide array of high desert flora which provide habitat for many endangered species while adventurous explorers of all ages can test their hiking and rock climbing skills.
