  • Fire near Enterprise Reservoir continues destruction

    (ENTERPRISE, Utah) - Lightning strikes began the Greek Peak Wildfire on July 2, 2014 at 6:25 p.m. Color Country Fire resources are managing the fire located 15 miles SW of Enterprise, and 6 miles SW of Enterprise Reservoir. No closures are currently in effect, however fire officials are requesting the public’s assistance in keeping the area clear for fire crews to work.

    Starting tomorrow, Sunday July 6, a Type 2 incident management team will transition the Greek Peak wildfire along with the Cottonwood and Middle Ridge wildfires which are located in Nevada into the MGC Complex.

    The fire is very active and is being fueled by cheatgrass, mixed brush, pinyon/juniper trees, and black brush.

    Currently the following resources are assigned; 3- Hot Shot crews, 2- Type 4 engines, 2- Type 6 engines, 8- smokejumpers, 1- Type 2 Helicopter, air attack and 3- Type 3 air tankers. The fire is 0% contained.

    No evacuations are in effect, and no injuries have been reported.
