    (SALT LAKE CITY, Utah) - According to data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, gross job gains in Utah from June 2013 to September 2013 exceeded gross job losses by 6,129 in private sector establishments. Gross job gains totaled 71,225 and gross job losses numbered 65,096. This is the fourteenth consecutive quarter where gross job gains have led gross job losses in Utah.

    Highlights from the Utah Business Employment Dynamics:

    • From June 2013 to September 2013 expanding establishments accounted for 57,772 of the gross job gains; contracting establishments resulted in 55,328 gross job losses.

    • Opening establishments registered 13,453 of the gross job gains in the quarter ended September 2013, while closing establishments recorded 9,768 gross job losses.

    • Gross job gains outnumbered gross job losses in nine industry sectors during the third quarter 2013.

    • Gross job losses exceeded gross job gains in two industry sectors.
