Senator Dabakis of the Utah State Senate
(SALT LAKE CITY, Utah) - "I will not, after all, not be marching in the Days of '47 Parade this year. Given the controversy over 'Mormons Building Bridges' (a group I love and admire), I have decided that there is the possibility that my participation might divert attention away from the heros of the parade, the thousands of volunteers who work so hard for so long to make this a one of America's great parades."

Dabakis continued. "The Salt Lake City Council will always hold a dear place in my heart for their bold and valiant efforts, especially to Councilman Kyle LaMafa who invited me to march with him. The Councilman worked hard as a peacemaker. I also thank parade president, Craig Peterson for his efforts. I hope one year, soon, we will be able to come together as a community."

"Maybe things will work out better another year. Again, I wish the best year ever for the 2014 Days of '47, and will be elbowing for my usual spot on Main Street."
