(CARSON CITY, Nev.) - Our Mom, always the lady and longtime Milford resident passed away on May 18, 2014 in Carson City, Nevada. She was born in Ioka, Utah to Ernest Honest and Mary Lucinda Horton on August 26, 1917.

She was raised in Salt Lake City along with four sisters, Thora, Wanda, Nina and Myrna and three brothers, Tom, Ernie and Brent. Only Brent, the youngest survived her.

After graduating from West High, she married her high school sweetheart, Grant Anderson. They were later sealed in the St. George LDS Temple. In 1944, they moved with their three children, Gary, Gale and Linda to Milford, Utah which was a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

Grant and Rachel were a very handsome couple and complemented each other very well. In 1962, they took Linda and relocated to Lakewood, California where Rachel became a successful Real Estate Agent. She also took up golfing, bowling and painting. She was quite proficient in all three, especially oil painting. Many family members and some friends have been the recipients of her paintings.

In 1966, Grant died unexpectedly of a heart attack. Shortly after that, Gary and his family moved to Lakewood to be near her.

Rachel later met and eventually married Allen J. Hardin Jr. in 1971. Big Al fit right into the family and was loved by everyone especially the kids. He was a wonderful grandfather to them. Rachel and Allen had a good life together they liked to travel and go on cruises and entertain friends at their home and at the family cabin near Big Bear. Allen died in 1984.

The last several years of mom’s life were spent with Linda in Carson City, Nevada.

In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Also three step grandchildren, four step great grandchildren. One grandson and one great grandson precede her in death.

Funeral Services will be held on May 31, 2014 at 12:00 pm at the Milford Southern Utah Mortuary, 209 South 100 West in Milford, Utah. A viewing will be held the same day at the Mortuary from 11:00-11:45 am. Interment will be in the Milford City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
