    (ST. GEORGE, Utah) - The Washington County School District is pleased to announce the selection of Ron Sharp as the Assistant Principal of Desert Hills Middle School. Ron will replace Brad Bench who was recently promoted to the position of Principal at Snow Canyon Middle School.

    Ron was raised in Monticello, Utah and graduated from Monticello High School in 1988. At Monticello High, he was involved in many extracurricular and academic activities, including, football, basketball, cross-country, track, National Honor Society, Academic Decathlon, and Sterling Scholar. He was awarded the Utah Career Teaching Scholarship and chose to pursue his desire to teach at SUSC (SUU) in Cedar City.

    Ron earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1993, majoring in Biology and Secondary Education. Ron and his wife, Jenny, moved to St. George in 1993 where he began teaching and coaching at Pine View Middle School. During the last of his 15 years at PVMS, Ron served as a half-time Assistant Principal and then made the decision to help open the new Desert Hills High School in 2008 and become part of the Thunder Family. He taught Biology for 3 years at DHHS before accepting an Assistant Principal position at Monticello High in Monticello, Utah.
