(ST. GEORGE, Utah) - Four pitchers – starting with the brothers Christoffersen – combined to throw a nine-hit shutout and junior outfielder Donald Glover had four singles as Dixie State blanked Cal State Los Angeles 11-0 in a non-conference, West Region game Saturday afternoon at Bruce Hurst Field to complete a three-game series sweep.

Three others – junior infielder Yuto Kata, redshirt freshman Trey Kamachi and junior designated hitter Kevin Kline – each collected three of the Red Storm's 15 hits as Dixie State improved to 29-13 on the season, earning the club's fourth sweep of the year.

Cal State L.A., who was one of six teams participating in the NCAA West Baseball Regional a year ago at Hurst, fell to 14-26, suffering its tenth consecutive loss.

Senior starting pitcher Kody Christoffersen struck out two and allowed just three hits in five scoreless innings, moving his record on the year to 5-2. His brother Kort Christoffersen tossed two innings of four-hit relief, also striking out a pair.

Matt Hill and Evan Parker each allowed one hit and tabbed a strikeout in their respective innings of work. Hill battled through allowing a one-out triple to keep the shutout intact.

The loss went to Golden Eagle right-hander Ryan Keller (1-5), scattering two runs on five hits in five innings. Jordan Cavazos and Reed Reznicek offered the Red Storm's final nine runs over the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.

Dixie State took a 2-0 lead through three innings scoring primarily with two outs on the scoreboard. In the opening inning, Kamachi singled through the left side and scored from first on a double from Kline. Two frames later, Kata doubled to spark the two-out rally. Kamachi would single up the middle to cash in Kata's run.

The Storm maintained its advantage until the sixth when the offense battered around the CSULA relievers. DSU loaded the bags with one out. Senior catcher Ty Johnson earned a bruise and an RBI being plunked by a pitch. Dalton Gust followed with a sacrifice fly to center field.

In the seventh inning, Kata blasted a full-count pitch deep to right center field. CSULA's outfielder Jesus Cuevas appeared to make a running grab before crashing into the fence. The collision caused the battled ball to fall out of Cuevas's glove and onto the warning track dirt. Kata raced around the bases for an inside-the-park home run, his first of the year. Senior outfielder Kris Kaplan and Johnson later added RBI infield singles to cap a three-run inning.

Dixie State added four insurance runs in the eighth. Kline doubled for the second time to bring home a pair of runs. Tyler Blair cashed in an RBI with a groundout while Glover completed the scoring with a single to center, scoring Kline.

CSULA had nine hits in total – two each from Casey Ryan, Kyle Peralta and Steven Luna.

Dixie State has won 27 of the last 31 games and is now 19-4 in games played at Hurst. The Red Storm are 16 games above the .500 mark for the first time in the 2014 season.

DSU resume conference play next weekend, visiting Point Loma for a four-game series with doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday from picturesque Carroll B. Land Stadium.
