    (SALT LAKE CITY, Utah) - The Fifth District Judicial Nominating Commission has selected nominees for two vacancies on the juvenile court. The vacancies result from the retirement of Judge Hans Q. Chamberlain and the resignation of Judge Karla Staheli. The Fifth Judicial District includes Beaver, Iron and Washington counties.

    The nominees for the vacancies are: Angela Adams MacKay, Deputy County Attorney, Washington County Attorney’s Office; Paul E. Dame, Judge, Washington County Justice Court; Scott Garrett, County Attorney, Iron County Attorney’s Office; Michael F. Leavitt, Shareholder, Durham Jones & Pinegar; and Julie L. Nelson, Assistant Attorney General, Utah Attorney General’s Office.

    Written comments can be submitted to Fifth District Judicial Nominating Commission Chair Jon Pike at Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice, P.O. Box 142330, Salt Lake City, UT 84114-2330 or judicialvacancies@utah.gov. The deadline for written comments is noon on April 11, 2014. The Nominating Commission may request further information or conduct an investigation of the nominees after reviewing public comments. After the public comment period, the names will be sent to Governor Gary R. Herbert, who will have 30 days to make an appointment. Governor Herbert’s appointee is subject to confirmation by the Utah Senate.
