(MESQUITE, Nev.) – Shawnanna Starr Guerrero Flores, 36, pled guilty in Mesquite Municipal Court to Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses, Obstruction of Justice, and Unlawful Acts Involving Electronic Mail or Transmission of Other Data. Flores was sentenced by Moapa Justice of the Peace (Mesquite Municipal Court Pro Tem Judge) Ruth Kolhoss to serve 12 months in the Mesquite Detention Center. Judge Kolhoss also ordered Flores complete a mental evaluation, pay restitution in the amount of $745.26, and serve 500 hours of community service with an organization dedicated to assisting victims of cancer.
Flores’ sentence came after argument by Mesquite Deputy City Attorney Bob Sweetin and Flores’ defense counsel. During the sentencing hearing numerous victims of Flores’ scheme to defraud the Mesquite community took the stand and expressed how Flores’ actions affected them, their lives, and the community as a whole.
