(BERYL, Utah) - Lenore Anita Sayers Schneider Raetz, age 81, passed away February 15, 2014. She was born November 13, 1932, in Monrovia, California, to John Henry Sayers and Mary McAlear.

She grew up in Southern California, the youngest of three children and played clarinet in the high school band. She married Joe Schneider at the age of 19 and had three children. She was a Brownie leader, den mother, Sunday school teacher and song leader.

At the age of 36, she became a single parent. With her bachelor’s degree in history, she took extra credits to become an elementary school teacher. She taught for 25 plus years in Las Vegas, NV; most of those years in 3rd grade. During the summers, she worked as camp director for a Girl Scout Camp.

In 1983, Lee married John Raetz and moved to Pahrump. John had eight children, five of them still living at home. Lee started a second family. Lee commuted to Las Vegas for a few years to continue teaching school. When she retired from teaching in Las Vegas, Lee began substitute teaching in Pahrump. She couldn’t stay away from those kids!!

In 1999 John and Lee moved to Beryl, Utah where she volunteered for a time at the local library, worked crossword puzzles, fed the wild birds, and spent time with her dog, Boots.

Lee leaves behind her husband John H. Raetz; her children: Leann Hundley, Laurie Letourneau, and Richard Schneider: her step-children: Cynthia Nelson, Marie Becht, Marjorie Gonzalez, Sharon Raetz, Andrew Raetz, Dean Raetz, Sara Day, and Frank Raetz; more than 20 grandchildren; and at least 8 great grandchildren.

Lee was a great mother and grandmother. She was forgiving and non-judgmental. She was always there for you when you needed her. She accepted things as they came. She had a great big laugh and an amazing sense of humor.
