Andrea Johnson, SUU Ballroom Dance Company Director, was enthusiastic in her praise of this year’s Ballroom Dance Company’s performance at the event. “I couldn't be more pleased at how the SUU Ballroom Dance Company represented the University at the Mustang Ball Competition. These students have made great efforts to juggle their academic load along with company rehearsals and technique class, and it truly paid off! We are so excited to have the campus and community join us at Dancing with the Stars in a few short weeks.”
At the Mustang Ball, individual events are offered in American style, International style, and Nightclub dances. All events are open to leaders and followers of either gender. Two or more dances separated by a slash constitute a multi-dance event. Contestants in multi-dance events must dance all dances. Contestants in International style categories must dance International style, and contestants in American style categories must dance American style. Events are open to all amateur competitors. Although the event is collegiate in nature, competitors do not have to be students and there are no age restrictions for any events.
This remarkable victory at a regional competition makes the Company’s upcoming event, Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. This event is one of the ballroom company’s most popular events of the year. The event begins at 7:30pm and takes place in the Centrum Arena on Southern Utah University campus. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $6 for SUU students. Tickets may be purchased by calling (435) 865-8375 or from an SUU Ballroom Dance Company member, or at the door of the event.
