(ST. GEORGE, Utah) – The Southwest Utah Public Health Department (SWUPHD) is alerting the public about a child car seat recall. The Graco company is recalling 3.8 million car seats because children can become trapped due to buckles that may not unlatch. This usually happens because food or beverages spill on the harness buckles, making them harder to open over time.

"This is the fourth largest car seat recall in history," says Shalyce Oman, SWUPHD Health Educator. "It involves 11 models made from 2009 through 2013. There have been no injuries reported from the stuck latches but some harness straps had to be cut to get kids out of seats. We recommend checking to see if your child's car seat is on the recall list. This is also a good reminder to send in the registration card when you buy a new car seat so you can be notified of any future recalls."

Car seat owners can visit www.gracobaby.com and click the "RECALL NOTIFICATION" link to see if their seat models are included and order a free replacement latch.
