(ST. GEORGE, Utah) - The Dixie State University Career Center will host its annual Employment Fair on Wednesday, February 26, in the Gardner Center Ballroom from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year’s fair is open to all students and community members and will feature nearly 40 registered employers seeking to hire four-year graduates and students with associate degrees and certificates.

DSU Director of Career Services Kathy Kinney noted that this year’s fair is full of employers who are looking to hire DSU graduates for full-time career positions, along with other employers who will offer part-time and seasonal jobs and internships. She noted that students and other attendees looking for career advice and information should come prepared to engage potential employers, ask questions and discover what each company at the fair has to offer.

“The biggest value a student can get from our fair is the opportunity to make a personal connection with the employers, which is not possible when submitting a resume online,” Kinney said. “The fair also offers the chance to introduce yourself to multiple potential employers in one place.”

Fair attendees can also expect prospective employers handing out various promotional items and materials, along with a free lunch as pizza will be served throughout the event. In addition, this year’s event will feature on-the-spot resume’ reviews provided by representatives from LDS Employment Services, who will provide advice to students on how to better their marketability.

Among the many employers that will attend this year’s DSU Employment Fair include Intermountain Healthcare; Best Buy; Boy Scouts of America; Northwestern Mutual; Wal-Mart; Allconnect; Wells Dairy; and Zions Bank, among many others. In addition, branches of the United States Military and other government agencies, including the Bureau of Land Management and the National Parks Service will be on hand with employment information, as will representatives from Weber State University with information on graduate programs.

In conjunction with the Employment Fair, DSU will also host a special Summer Sales Fair on Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Gardner Center Ballroom from 10 a.m.-to-2 p.m. Sales representatives from a number of companies, including pest control services, satellite television, home security systems, among others, will be on hand to provide information on summer job opportunities.
