The victims were aware of this type of scam and ended the conversations prior to sending any money. These victims did not send any money but the threat of arrest was used several times. One caller obtained the requested card and wanted to give the caller the card in person. The subject then stated to one victim he was located at 213 North Main and gave 2132 North Main (which is the Sheriff’s Office address) to another as his location.
Although none of these victims provided monies to the caller we are again advising citizens the Iron County Sheriff’s Office will not call you about a criminal warrant. We will not request a cash card, Debit card, or any other form of payment over the phone. Warrants are paid in exact cash amounts, in person at the Iron County Correctional Facility or the Iron County Justice Court only.
We are advising the public if you have received a phone call from someone like this to not send money to them. If you have paid monies please contact your local law enforcement agency to make a report.
