    Domestic Violence Arrest
(ST. GEORGE, Utah) - On January 30th at approximately 9PM officers were in the area of 1100 West and 1400 North. They heard what sounded like a series of gunshots in rapid succession. They started to try to determine the origin of the shots. As the officers were investigating what they had heard the St. George Communications Center started to receive calls concerning a series of gunshots in the same area. Officers heard three to four additional shots being fired as they approached the area.

An additional caller contacted the Communication Center to report hearing the shots. The reporting person had also gone outside and found damage to their residence and property consistent with being struck by bullets. Officers were able to narrow down the location the shots had been fired from as they canvassed the area for witnesses and evidence. Officers arrived at 1173 West Snow Canyon Parkway, number eleven, and found evidence indicating the shots originated from the residence and that a vehicle had recently left.

As the investigation was unfolding a call was received by the Communications Center regarding a disorderly male at the Albertsons on Dixie Drive. The male, identified by a witness as “Rob”, was observed kicking the doors to the pharmacy. The male left the Albertsons with a female in a white Cadillac Escalade. Information was obtained to suggest “rob” may be involved with the gunshots. The Cadillac was located in the area of 1300 North and 1200 West, heading toward the residence in question. Officers stopped the vehicle and were able to confirm that the male and female in the vehicle were involved with the gunshots.

Further investigation suggests that the incident involved a domestic dispute at the couple’s residence. Through the course of the dispute “Rob” detained the victim at gunpoint and would not let her leave the residence until he wanted to go to Albertsons. At various points during the dispute multiple shots were fired in the residence and from an exterior patio. The victim sustained no physical injuries.

Robert V. Swan was arrested and booked into the Purgatory Correctional Facility charged with:

Aggravated Kidnapping (Domestic Violence), Aggravated Assault (Domestic Violence), Reckless Endangerment, Discharge of a Firearm in City Limits, Criminal Mischief (Domestic Violence), and Intoxication.

The investigation is currently under review and additional investigation will be pursued as appropriate.
