Vance lost his father at the age of 5. He was reared and educated in Minersville and Milford, UT. He won the marble contest in Beaver County when he was in elementary school and got to travel to Ogden where he took third place in the marble contest. He was on the track team at Milford High School running the 100-yard dash, 220 relay and high jump and was also on the basketball team. He graduated from Milford High School in 1943.
He was a veteran of World War II. He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 in the Pacific Campaign on the USS Fayette.
On December 27, 1947, he married Connie Lee Price in Parowan, Utah. Their Marriage was later solemnized in the Saint George Temple in 1963. They have been married for 67 years. Vance lived in the family home in Minersville. He has lived all his life in Minersville except for five years living on the Milford Flat.
Vance has been a farmer, cattleman, and dairyman in Minersville and the Milford Flat. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for ten years. Vance enjoys the outdoors the mountains, the west hills, good horses, horse races, hunting and being with his family. He has served on many boards concerning ranching and farming and the Milford Hospital. The soil Conservation voted him farmer of the year in 2002 for Beaver County.
He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and has served in the High Priest Presidency, Sunday school, and as a Home Teacher.
Surviving are wife, Connie, daughters; Carolyn Hatley, Sunset, UT., Audrey (Kenneth) Frailey, Tooele, UT. Frances (Russell) Gale, Beaver, UT. And Son; Mark Lang (Lori) Marshall, Minersville, UT. He has 12 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Warren Hall, son Kenneth Vance, daughter; Arlene, grandson Cody Lang Marshall, Brothers; Ual and Clauss, Sisters; Vivie, Lelia, Verel and Ruth.
Funeral Services will be held at the Minersville 1st Ward Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday January 10, 2014. Friends may call Thursday evening January 9th, from 6 - 8 p.m. and Friday, January 10th from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Minersville 1st Ward Church prior to the services. Interment will be in the Minersville Cemetery.
