    (HURRICANE, Utah) – Edwin J. Stokes, 85, passed away December 27, 2013. He was born July 16, 1928, in Holden, MA to Edwin G. Stokes and Mary C. Carney. He married Clora Ann Thacker, May 27, 1949 in Woodland, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized on May 27, 1957 in the Salt Lake City Temple.

    Edwin lived in many places during his youth, eventually he ended up in Woodland, UT. He served in WWII on the USS Henrico. He helped build the Orville and Glenn Canyon Dams. He and Ann lived in Hurricane, UT for the last 30 years. He liked to visit and help people. One of his hobbies included growing pistachio nuts. He also enjoyed tinkering in his welding shop.

    Edwin is survived by his children: Peggy Ann Stokes; Trudy (Sandy) Crozier; Edwin J. (Stephanie) Stokes, Jr. Grandchildren: Ariann (Michael) Kiser; Kyle P. (Olya) Clarkson; Brooke (Eduardo) Sanchez; Aaron Gentry. Great-grand child: Dashton Sanchez.

    He is preceded in death by his wife, Clora Ann Thacker; Father, Edwin G. Stokes; Mother, Mary C. Carney; sister, Louise Bisel; and sister, Anna Naomi Stevens aka Chick; and many other family and friends, to numerous to mention.

    Viewing and Funeral services will be Thursday, January 2, 2014. The viewing starts at 4:00 pm with the Funeral Service at 5:00 p.m. in the Hurricane 7th Ward Chapel, 155 East 1050 North, Hurricane, UT. Interment, will take place Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Woodland City Cemetery, Woodland, UT at 11:00 am.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peggy Stokes, 98 E 590 N, Hurricane, UT 84737.

    The Stokes' family would like to acknowledge the special care given by the Hurricane Fire and Ambulance staff for the numerous times they came and assisted in his care and transport. Also, we would like to acknowledge the special care administered by Southern Utah Home Care and Hospice.
