(SALT LAKE CITY, Utah) - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Utah Salt Lake Field Office released a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and signed the Decision Record (DR) approving the Kiewit Mine Project in southwestern Tooele County, Utah.

After completing an environmental assessment (EA), the BLM has decided to authorize approximately 43 acres of Federal land surface disturbance associated with the gold mining project located four miles southeast of Gold Hill, Utah. The EA analyzed the potential environmental impacts related to the proposed open pit mine and waste rock disposal facility on public land, as well as cyanide heap leach processing facilities on adjacent patented land. The combined total project disturbance on Federal, State, and private land is 105 acres.
