To help promote the use of solar energy, Southwest Applied Technology College will host a series of workshops where information about Rocky Mountain Power’s upcoming Utah Solar Incentive Program will be covered. According to Rocky Mountain Power, “The program is designed to provide Rocky Mountain Power customers…with a rebate after installation for a portion of the initial cost of installing photovoltaic (PV) systems.”
Topics covered in the training include an overview of how solar technology works, design considerations, equipment warranties, government rebates, system costs, expected savings, and payback. Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to schedule time to receive one-on-one help in applying for the program.
Designed as a lottery, applicants can receive up to $4,800 for a residential system, up to $23,750 for a small non-residential system, and up to $750,000 for a large non-residential system. Because the application deadline is fast approaching, interested individuals are encouraged to apply early.
The Utah Solar Incentive Program workshops will take place in the lobby of the Southwest Applied Technology College on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 and Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The public is invited to attend and find out how solar can work for them.
