(PARAGONAH, Utah) - On Friday around 12:30pm, fire personnel were dispatched to a Paragonah home on Red Creek Canyon Road. Upon arrival they found the roof was involved. Fire personnel entered the residence to attempt to contain the fire. Fire personnel were meet with heave fire and smoke. The roof of the residence quickly began to collapse causing fire personnel to retreat from the residence. Fire personnel continued to battle the blaze from the outside or the residence. Due to no fire hydrants in the area fire personnel were limited on water resources. It was taking up to 1 hour for water to be trucked to the location. Fire personnel were able to contain the fire to the residence and out buildings.

Fire personnel from the Paragonah, Parowan, Brian Head and the Bureau of Land Management responded to the area. There were approximately 8 fire apparatuses on scene trying to control the fire. The fire was contained to the residence and buildings adjacent to the residence. The fire destroyed the residence and its contents which had remained in the residence and buildings.

It appears at this time the fire was caused by the chimney.

The estimated loss of the building and contents is approximately $400,000.
