Val served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955. Through many years of diligence and hard work, he was employed by companies such as Gallagher Company and Leon Peterson Construction. He successfully opened his own pool maintenance company, from which he retired. He and his wife then moved to Enoch, Utah in 1997.
Val loved to garden and became a master gardener, enjoying every minute of it, from planting the seeds in his greenhouse in February to harvesting all the way into December. He looked forward to sharing his harvest and creations, from his special mustard to his variety of baked goods, with family and friends. Other activities he enjoyed were golfing, hunting and camping, especially with his family. Val loved the Lord and demonstrated this through his service. In his later years, he enjoyed attending the temple weekly with his sweet companion. He was very devoted to his wife and family, always supportive and willing to help.
Val was preceded in death by his parents, brother Loren Roberts, sister Juanita Jensen, daughter-in-law Sheila Roberts, and grandson Nicolas Val Jones. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Abelhouzen Roberts of Enoch, UT; sister, Marian Nielson of Midvale, UT; his children Randy Roberts (Brenda) of Murray, Utah, Kevin Roberts (Sheila, deceased) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Valerie Fowles (Alan) of Casper, Wyoming and Elisha Jones (Brian) of Enoch, UT; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
