(SALT LAKE CITY, Utah) - Utah Democrats are calling for the investigation into corruption on Utah's Capitol Hill to continue, until all questions are answered, all leads pursued, and concrete legislative solutions to the abuses of power are proposed. Utah Democratic Party Executive Director, Matt Lyon, issued the following statement Thursday,

"The presentation by special counsel Steven Reich demonstrates the desperate need for accountability and real checks and balances in our government. The GOP wants the investigation quashed, closed, and finished. But the preliminary findings of the report are so troubling, it would be irresponsible to sweep the loose ends under the rug. In Reich's own words, there is a warehouse full of information that still needs to be gone through.”

"There are critical questions left unanswered. How far does this type of corruption go? What would we have found with the unserved subpoenas? What connection does Swallow or Republican kingmaker Jason Powers have with other officials? Is there anyone else in state government involved with these transgressions? These may be the most pressing questions coming out of the hearing today, but they are just the tip of the iceberg. No more excuses, no more obstruction. It's time to get this whole mess out into the open, under public scrutiny."
