  • Best Western Announces Election of Terry Porter of Cedar City to Board

    (PHOENIX, Ariz.) - Best Western International announced that Terry Porter, owner of the Best Western Plus Town & Country Inn in Cedar City has been elected to serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors. Porter will serve as the 2014 Board secretary-treasurer.

    Porter, a certified hotel administrator, has owned the Best Western Plus Town & Country Inn since 1989. Porter previously served as a governor for the brand. As a Director, Porter will represent the interests of hotel owners in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.

    “Terry’s operations experience as well as his involvement with industry organizations will be beneficial as we continue to enhance the brand and deliver more revenue to our hotel owners,” said Best Western President and CEO David Kong.

    Porter served on the boards of the Utah Travel Council, Cedar City Motel Association, Utah Shakespearean Festival and various Cedar City committees. He is a participating member of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA), Utah Hotel and Lodging Association, and Iron County Lodging Association.

    “The Best Western brand offers hotel owners like me an opportunity to operate a family business that’s an integral part of my community,” said Best Western Board Secretary-Treasurer Terry Porter. “I am honored to add my voice to the Board in planning the future of Best Western for the next generation of owners.”

    Porter joins six other Best Western hotel owners who serve on the Board of Directors, helping guide the brand’s business operations.

    Porter and his wife, Debby, live in Cedar City, Utah. They have four adult children and two grandchildren. Porter graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in business management.
